Tota Releases New Song “Hope” as Opening Theme for Anime Anne Shirley
Bedroom artist Tota has announced the release of their new song “Hope” on April 9, written as the opening theme for the new anime adaptation Anne Shirley. The anime is based on the globally beloved Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery, translated into Japanese by Hanako Muraoka and published by Shinchosha. The song “Hope” is a light and uplifting track that reflects the resilience of the main character, Anne, who overcomes adversity through the power of her imagination and grows alongside those around her. Just like the anime itself, the song is designed to offer courage and inspiration to its listeners. The newly revealed cover artwork for “Hope” features an original illustration drawn by Tota herself. The Anne Shirley anime began airing on April 5, with animation produced by Answer Studio. Ryoma Quartet Performs at Opening Ceremony of MLB Tokyo Series
Blending the sounds of traditional Japanese instruments—Tsugaru shamisen, shinobue flute, and traditional drums—with the classical Western violin, the genre-defying Ryoma Quartet took the stage at the Tokyo Dome on March 19 for the Opening Ceremony of the MLB Tokyo Series presented by Guggenheim, featuring the Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers season opener. The quartet performed two signature pieces: “YAMATO,” which embodies their samurai spirit with bold instrumentation, and “FUJIN,” a dynamic composition that balances grandeur with speed. Their unique cross-cultural sound set the tone for the event, captivating the crowd just before the first pitch. Joining Ryoma Quartet were over 20 performers including shamisen, shakuhachi, Japanese dance, koto, and traditional hayashi percussion artists—forming a powerful ensemble that delivered a new kind of oriental sound performance and electrified the stadium. Aiko’s New Song “Capsule” Chosen as the Ending Theme for TV Anime Apocalypse Hotel! Theme Song “Capsule” Debuts in the Anime’s PV!
Aiko's new song "Capsule" has been chosen as the ending theme for the upcoming TV anime Apocalypse Hotel, set to premiere in April. The opening theme will be "skirt", a track from her album Zanshin Zansho, released on August 28, 2024. With both the opening and ending themes performed by Aiko, her music will shape the atmosphere of the anime. This project is a collaboration between CyberAgent and CygamesPictures. The character designs are created by Izumi Takemoto, known for his unique touch in works like Nekome Waku Series, Teketeke My Heart, and Garden Sisters. The series composition is handled by Shigeru Murakoshi, who has worked on popular titles such as Zombie Land Saga and NINJA KAMUI. Animation production will be carried out by CygamesPictures. Expressing her excitement about providing both theme songs, Aiko commented: "I'm incredibly happy to be in charge of both the opening and ending themes!
