The TV anime “Kirio Fan Club” is based on the one-sided romantic comedy manga by Chikyu no Osakana Ponchan, originally serialized in “COMIC Ruelle” (Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha) from 2022 to 2024. The story follows high school girls Aimi Miyoshi and her classmate Nami Sometani as they exchange unstoppable fantasies and affection over their crush, their intriguing classmate Ken Kirio. The series ranked No. 6 in the Women’s Ranking of “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2024” and No. 10 in the Women’s Ranking of “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2025,” marking two consecutive years in the Top 10. Even after the serialization ended, it has continued to be loved by many readers. Following its live-action drama adaptation in April 2025, the long-awaited TV anime adaptation has finally arrived. A portion of the new song “FANCLUB” can be heard in the promotional commercial now airing, so be sure to enjoy it alongside the anime footage.

“Kirio Fan Club” is an incredibly powerful work. Beyond its unapologetic absurdity, there’s a faint yet unmistakable sense of sentimentality that lingers. When I started writing this song, I wondered if we could capture that feeling through music. With the tremendous contribution of ODD Foot Works, I think we created a strange but wonderful track where straight lines, curves, and squiggly lines all blend together. It turned into something we don’t hear very often, and I’m truly thrilled with how it came out. Please look forward to it!

Pecori (ODD Foot Works) Comments

The distorted, excessive love portrayed in the story sometimes becomes almost unsettling in its expression, but for some reason I felt a deep sense of sympathy toward it, and the lyrics came to me smoothly.
For the beat, I incorporated a swung Jersey club rhythm to match the theme of youth.
“Fan” is also an essential keyword for musicians, and in romantic or even friendly relationships, I believe calling someone a fan can represent the highest form of affection.
As you listen, I hope you’ll think about whose fan you are, and who might be a fan of you.
