Pony Canyon has launched OTONOBA TOKYO, a new label and distribution service designed to support international artists expanding into the Japanese and Asian markets.

More than a traditional music distribution service, OTONOBA TOKYO aims to connect international artists with listeners in Japan and across Asia through cultural engagement and storytelling. Based on the concept of “a place where music and culture from around the world come together,” the label will introduce global artists to Asian audiences from Tokyo.

As the first artist to join the project, Los Angeles-based alternative pop artist DeathbyRomy will begin her activities in Japan with the release of her new single “Manic Dream” on June 5.

Known for her cinematic sound, dark romanticism, and genre-defying style, DeathbyRomy has been building an international presence through performances and collaborations around the world. She appeared as a support act on selected dates of BABYMETAL’s 2024 European tour and is also scheduled to join Limp Bizkit as a support act on their European tour in the summer of 2026.

Her collaborations include work with American rapper blackbear, who is known for projects with artists such as Justin Bieber and Maroon 5, as well as a remix featuring 24kGoldn, whose catalog includes songs with more than 2.1 billion streams. In recent years, she has also collaborated with artists from the current emo scene, including PVRIS and TX2.

Released on June 5, “Manic Dream” was inspired by a conversation with her teenage self—a young woman who felt invincible while also carrying feelings of anxiety and fear. In contrast to her bold visual aesthetic, the song highlights DeathbyRomy’s delicate and emotional vocals and presents a distinctive artistic world of her own.

As an artist who has a strong affinity for Japan and visits the country several times each year, DeathbyRomy will be introduced to Japanese audiences through OTONOBA TOKYO, which will support her activities in Japan and across Asia.

Pony Canyon plans to continue expanding the OTONOBA TOKYO roster with additional international artists in the future.
