KizunaAI, the pioneer of VTubers who debuted in 2016 and went into indefinite hiatus (sleep) in February 2022, has officially resumed her activities today, Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Under her new artist name, “KizunaAI,” she has released her digital single “kamone.” (Lyrics & Music: ESME MORI, Lyrics: KizunaAI, Nishina)

 

This marks her first activity in three years since her indefinite hiatus announcement at “Kizuna AI The Last Live ‘hello, world 2022′” on February 26, 2022.

Since starting her career in 2016, KizunaAI has been active as the world’s first virtual YouTuber, inspired by her desire to “connect with everyone.”

Her multi-talented activities have earned her a massive global following, with over 10 million followers across major social media platforms.

With this comeback, she aims to connect with even more people worldwide through music. To mark this new beginning, she has rebranded herself as the artist “KizunaAI” and is embarking on a fresh new chapter.

 

Musically, while she cherishes her roots in Japanese internet dance music—an area she actively explored before her hiatus—she is now blending those influences with indie band elements and J-POP elements, introducing a new style of J-POP to the world.

Her newly released track, “kamone” （かもね）was composed by ESME MORI and written by KizunaAI, ESME MORI, and Nishina. The song is a lighthearted pop track that naturally conveys her awakening and return in an authentic and effortless way.

 

Additionally, the music video for “kamone”（かもね） directed by the creative unit qootain, premiered at 10 PM on February 26, 2025. The bold and innovative visuals of the music video symbolize her fresh start and showcase KizunaAI’s unique musical world.

 

KizunaAI has also announced through her social media channels that she plans to actively pursue music moving forward.
